In this video, Dr. Dee explains how forward head posture and tension at the base of the skull can contribute to headache symptoms. He discusses the suboccipital muscles and how irritation around the upper neck may refer discomfort toward the head, temples, or behind the eyes.
The demonstration shows how to gently work the muscles at the base of the skull with a foam roller and how to perform a chin tuck style stretch to open the upper neck. The goal is a comfortable stretch, not downward pressure or force. Hold stretches for about 25 to 30 seconds and stop if symptoms increase. If headaches continue, the First Choice Chiropractic team can evaluate whether neck posture, joint restriction, or another factor may be involved.
