In this video, Dr. Dee explains how tight hip flexors can contribute to hip, pelvic, and low back discomfort. Sitting for long periods can keep the hips in a shortened position, which may tighten the front of the hips and affect how the pelvis and lower back move.
The demonstration includes dynamic leg swings to bring blood flow into the hip flexors, a kneeling hip flexor stretch with padding under the knee if needed, and a chair or couch variation for patients who prefer not to get down on the floor. Stretch both sides, move gently, and avoid forcing the low back into discomfort. If hip or low back pain continues, the First Choice Chiropractic team can check pelvic and low back movement and help tailor the stretch to your needs.
